most people I know just do like evie pants but do an odd number of M1's under the waist band so that the ls is right and then just wrap every other stitch and make sure your SR is on the knit side instead of a wrap side.

I don't use patterns for longies. I just do a flap style gusset rather than making increases when I do linen stitch. All I use is measurements and gauge.
