I have heard some people feed it with buttermilk and leave it on the counter but THAT makes me nervous. I am sure the buttermilk cultures help keep the sourdough cooties excited but I don't know that I would take the risk of it souring and ruining my starter.
yeah, it's the unknown home life that scares me. I'm werid about eating food made in other people's houses that I have not been to.

as a teacher I rarely ate food that the kids brought me unless I knew the kitchen looked like or the baker that made them

Re: KAL! Sept 16-22. Knit a present!

Yes I'm still up for it! Overall the yarn is fairly dark, I've seen a kettle dyed one in that pattern that looked really nice, but when I find stuff I usually search projects for "handspun" to see if any come up and get a feel for it. For some reason I never thought Tea leaves would work in handspun, but as soon as I SAW a handspun tea leaves, I knew I needed one.

Re: KAL! Sept 16-22. Knit a present!

I just read a kindle fire HD review.....sounds like a winner!

I am also thikning about getting a smartphone.

What order do I do this? It's always feel bad about spending money on things I really don't "need"...which is most stuff.

I got an email that my visa gift cards are in the works..so that should be coming soon.

It's always worse for me when I see the kitchen to be honest... then I know exactly what people do wrong and I still have to eat it.

I agree. I am weird about that too. So. My mom was a home ec teacher for 35 years and taught food safety certification classes. She processed the starter I only handled the plastic bags (little ziplocks). If that's ok with you then I can send some starter. I am also state certified in food handling from owning 3 food prep businesses.

Otherwise the first link explains how to make your own with your areas airborne yeasts and store bought yeast. I am sure that's fine, idk from experience though.
