Ergo and Newborn Questions?

Hello Babywearers

I have a 2 year old and an Ergo. I didn't have the ergo until he was close to a year. Now I am expecting number 2 and have a couple of questions using the ergo with the new baby. I have heard that you don't need the infant insert and can use a rolled up receiving blanket, but I don't understand how. Can anyone walk me through this or provide a link or pictures with more info? If anyone can give me any info about how to nurse in an ergo that would be great. Thanks in advance.

You could probably get away with it but I would be nervous about how secure it would be! I think using the blanket would be similar to using the old style ergo insert. It wasn't much more than a padded blanket. But the new heart to heart insert is much better-more secure and better support for baby's developing spine. Not exactly what you asked but just my 2 cents

Re: Ergo and Newborn Questions?

I didn't use the h2h insert with my newborn, but she was a 10-lb newborn. I just folded her feet under her and stuck her in it - perfect.

Re: Ergo and Newborn Questions?

Roll the receiving blanket into a breadstick shape from corner to corner
Use like a horseshoe shape around the baby
