Is it hard to make a woven wrap?

Any thoughts specs on this?
Also I have a moby wrap and an ergo. I didn't use either of them that much with my last baby. I couldn't get her to like them. What type of carrier to you recommend for a newbie with a mama that has lots of lower back and shoulder pain at baseline?

To make a true woven wrap like a Girasol, yes. You would need a machine or hand loom and the right fabrics. Most who make wraps are using gauze, osnaburg or they buy cheaper fabric that is suppose to be for a window shade or something like that. While they may work for smaller babies, they don't really hold up to a bigger baby or toddler. Those fabrics are not specifically woven for the weight of a growing baby/child, nor are they made to shape to the baby/child when wrapping.

Jenn is right. The fabric in a woven wrap is specifically woven for a baby wrap. You cannot buy that kind of fabric in any fabric store. If you want a woven wrap without a super high price, I recommend Chimparoo. It's a Canadian brand and more affordable than most. All of their wraps are under $100.

Do you know if they sell in the states yet? I asked them maybe a year or so ago and they weren't yet but were working on setting up customs in order to do so.

They do appear to be selling in the states now but when I looked, their long wraps are almost $200US -_- Not really a savings there...
