My daughter had her first at 19 yrs old and had Pre-eclampsia. It came back to normal quick i think within 2 wks. 5 yrs later had her second and had PIH i took longer but was back to normal by 6 wk check-up.

Re: If you had high BP, how soon after delivery did it go back down?
Thanks ladies.
We are 4 days postpartum. BP is still on the high side if I take it when sitting up (140's - 150's / 70's-90's). But it's super awesome laying down (100's - 125 / 50's-60's). Still on BP meds. Midwife told me to continue them until my 2 week check up with her next week, but to continue checking my BP regularly and cut my dosage in half if I start to feel dizzy or light headed or notice that my BP is getting progressively lower. God bless!

Re: If you had high BP, how soon after delivery did it go back down?
Mine was high just for the last 1.5 weeks or so of pregnancy with DD, was scary scary high during labor/delivery, and took a month or so of meds to get back to normal. Hope yours stabilizes soon!

I'm a year pp & still on meds. My dr believes that the pregnancy brought on something that was probably going to happen in later life anyways it runs in my family but I'm hoping when I lose my baby weight it'll help. I should've already been doing this but just been busy adjusting to life with baby. But my readings are getting better so keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: If you had high BP, how soon after delivery did it go back down?
I had Pre-e all 3 times and my bp went down in the operating room after delivery.
Magnesium is good for high bp among other things. |

Re: If you had high BP, how soon after delivery did it go back down?
I had Pre-e with 2 of my 3 pregnancies. My first it took about a month to go back to normal. My last baby...it never actually went down to normal.
It went down some...but never back down to normal. I changed my diet and fitness about 6 months ago and then it went to normal. I'm preggo again and praying I don't get pre-e again! I think normally though, it would go down in the next week or so.
