Subbing to come back with a pic. DD is 5 1/2yrs, 4 feet, and 43lbs. She's harnessed in a Britax Frontier 85. I'll keep her this way until she outgrows it by height.

Re: Bigger kids in harnessed seats..

I'll have to get pics today, My oldest will be 9 soon and is about 50" and 56lbs and still harnessed in his frontier. DS2 is almost 7 and about 48" and 56lbs. and harnessed in his nautilus although he is getting close to seated height for harness, not sure if we will just go to belt buckle or get a frontier for him as well.

Re: Bigger kids in harnessed seats..

here is my ds last night on the way home from sea world in a nautilus, lol... he'll be 5 on the first, and was 41lbs in july.

i am starting to booster train him though, so hopefully next time he visits his dad he wont put him in "the big boy seat belt" (ie no seat at all... grrr) hes doing really well, but he only wants to ride in the booster now. we bought a cheap one for practice, and had to take it out yesterday, cuz his cousin went with us.

Re: Bigger kids in harnessed seats..

My DD is about to turn 5 and is harnessed in a Radian with tons of growing room. tons. She is getting close to outgrowing the Marathon. I'm super impressed that she fit in that seat for so long, though.

ETA: She's 40 pounds, not sure how tall though. Average. lol

No pics, but my DD will be 5 on the 12th, is 47 inches and riding in a Safety 1st Complete Air and a Radian XTSL. She's slightly above the top slots in the Radian but still below the headwings so she rides in that occasionally. She's actually got more room in the CA, but not much, so it won't last until 6 for sure. She's STILL not 40 lbs soooo I'm thinking of just getting her Frontiers to get us another full year + in harness.

LOVE this thread. A friend of mine put their dd who is just 4 in a backless booster bec there was no room with the new baby's car seat for hers so they switched her. Ugh right.

Re: Bigger kids in harnessed seats..

Grace is 6, 43" and 42lbs in a britax regent. she has one more slot, and the seat doesn't expire until she is 8. She is fine with it. She can get herself in and out, which she would not be able to do in a booster since she can;t hook the seatbelt on her own.
