Re: Shoes
I am not a shoe girl and we do not attend church or school so our kids usually have 1 pair at a time. Maybe 2 in summer. They where sports sandals in summer with a closed toe and a sneaker or moc in winter. I would think in a minimal household kids shouldn't need more that 3 and that is of you need dress shoes. Like each one for school, church, and play maybe.

Re: Shoes
DS has:
1 pair pf tennis shoes 1 pair of dress shoes 1 sandal 1 rainboot 1 pair of hiking boots - only because grandpa sent these 1 snow boot (in winter) and a pair of house slippers oh and water shoes for the pool. Baby has a pair of leather shoes, a pair of soft sole tennis shoes in each size and in smaller sizes a pair of booties too. DH has 1 dress shoe, 1 leather harley boots, 1 nicer tennis shoe and he will get one sporty tennis shoe I have 1 casual boot, 1 winter boot, 1 dressy heel, 1 flats, tennis shoes, sandals and crocs. I believe that is all. Everyone has one pair house shoes.

Re: Shoes
Well, I went through DS7's shoes. He has:
1. New sneakers 2. Old sneakers for dirty activities (the kids sometimes go to work with DS and need grubby closed toed shoes for it, and they get muddy so won't work for school the next day!) 3. Keens sandals (we're in a warm area, so these are 3 season shoes!) 4. Dress shoes 5. Rain boots DD has outgrown all but one pair, but as I look to replace in the next size up, I'm thinking: 1. New everyday sneakers 2. Old sneakers for dirty activities 3. Keens sandals 4. Mary Janes to wear with dresses 5. Dressy shoes for special occasions 6. Wintery boots 7. Rain boots This isn't super minimalist, but it fits our lifestyle without a great deal of overlap. In my previous life, I just bought whatever was cute, and baby DD has a ridiculously large bin of hand-me-downs that I'll have to sort into a reasonable amount per size! |

We also have 4 distinct seasons...
For ds- Tennis shoes (new balance) Boots (target) Rain boots (target) Loafers (sperry) Dress shoes (sperry) Crocs 2 pairs of canvas tennis shoes from my mom For dd Dress shoes (stride rite) Tennis shoes (stride rite) Rain boots (target) Snow boats (target) Everyday boots (uggs) Pink sparkly Mary Janes (stride rite) 2 pairs of canvas tennis shoes my mom bought for her Sandals (stride rite) I buy quality shoes that last the seasons. I do not pass shoes down or have the kids wear hand me downs (minus rain boots that are rarely worn). I do take good care of them and resell when I am done and buy on sale. |

Our two boys thankfully wear the same size shoe right now, even though they're 2 years apart. Well-my little is edging out his older brother. But we tend to share shoes and they are hard on them. We bought some Ikea shoe cabinets and their shoes have to all fit in it. I honestly don't care how many they have-as long as they all fit.

Re: Shoes
We take all hand me downs we can get, but our ideal would be mary janes, sneakers, crocs, water shoes (if we can get them cheap as I think crocs get slippery), rain boots and winter boots. We don't stick w/ name brands b/c we're poor and so far dd outgrows shoes before she outwears them and we aren't having any more kids.

I forgot to add me. I have too many shoes considering I wear the same pair of shoes every.single.day.
I wear black toms but I have 2 pairs of Dressy flats, 3 pairs of chucks, and a pair of running shoes for working out

My girls seem to have a ton but they all get worn since we are in Canada and have so much different weather.
DD1 has: Rain boots Winter boots Dressy boots (lighter weight for the winter but not playing in the snow) Outdoor sneakers Indoor sneakers for school Mary Janes for dressier outfits Play sandals Dressy sandals Beach/water shoes Leather robeez type slippers for indoors Wow, that seems like so many shoes! DD2 has the same, except for the indoor school shoes. I have a question....what are "tennis shoes?" are they like sneakers?
