Beco Gemini

I hated the Moby with a passion.

Ring slings and wraps are my go to for newborns, keeps them nice and close, supported and easy to use. SSCs can be harder to fit for a newborn.

Re: Name Your Favorite NB Carrier

I borrowed my sister Ergo for awhile and it just didn't work for my body. Everyone is different. Some love it. For me my back hurt in one specific spot.

So I rented 3 different ssc carriers from paxbaby.com. I totally recommend trying or renting carriers before you buy. I would never have known the best one for me. I tried the BB2, Gemini, Pikolo (sp?) and the ergo of course. The buckles on the Beco Butterfly II and having the fabric panel on my chest drove me crazy. The pikolo straps weren't very comfy and dug, too thin I think.

The Gemini was just right for us. Folded up and down like an ergo, no stupid infant insert needed, could cross straps or just do clip like ergo. It was the most comfortable for me.

I have since graduated to other kinds of wraps and carriers. I have a Toddler Tula. Which is an awesome SSC option as well. I love the Tula and guess I would have loved it in a standard infant size as well if I knew about it a year ago. They are newer to the "scene."

I love my Sleeping Baby Productions woven conversion ring sling which would work for a tiny baby and I still use them for my 27 lb 21 month old. The woven material is super supportive and totally worth it. You can send Jan from SBP a wrap to convert or you can even buy a ready made one here from paxbaby as well.
