Re: Non-circ'ing mamas - question

None of the men in my life are circ'd. That is my two brothers in their 20s and 30s, my dad in his 60s, my husband in his 30s and my son who is 6, nearly 7. None of them have ever had issues.

Re: Non-circ'ing mamas - question

Boy 1: I was his nanny from 10 months to 5 years. In the beginning I was instructed by mom to stretch (pulling back and forth, not exactly retracting?) his foreskin because the parents said it was tight. At 2 he got little infections, usually cleared by steroid cream. He needed his "penis cream" off and on for a few years, but he never got a UTI or anything that needed more than cream. At the time I was really annoyed about it and thought his parents should have circ'd him, but now I just look at it like how some little girls get yeast infections and you just deal with it. It was certainly no worse than a girl with a yeast infection, probably a little easier.

Boy 2: Brother of boy 1, I was his nanny from birth to age 2. He never had any issues that I knew of, never stretched or retracted, never needed penis cream.

Boy 3: My son is 8 months and not circ'd. He's had no issue that I have noticed. A little after birth the tip of his penis was very red and raw for some reason, but I put some lanolin on it, same thing I used for sore nipples, and it was better in a couple days.

Hope this helps!

Re: Non-circ'ing mamas - question

DS1 scared me a little while ago by complaining that it hurt, and it was very red looking. (He's been fully retractable for a while, his own doing) He was fine by the next night. No problems other than that.

Re: Non-circ'ing mamas - question

I have never had any issues with my intact son. He has benefited from his foreskin and will continue to benefit for the rest of his life.

However, I have had many issues with my circumcised son- bleeding, infection, penile adhesions, rash, swelling, pain... Not to mention the sexual health issues he will have in the future. It's my deepest regret.

Re: Non-circ'ing mamas - question

2 years old, no probs other than an ignorant ped. His paternal grandfather had no issues in his 60+ years.

Seriously, the only problems you are likely to run into are with under-educated health care professionals. Even newly trained ones. Our former ped moved it just to look at the urethra and I flipped out. We argued. I sent him information on true average age of retraction, the subject of our argument. He then kicked us out of his practice.

No one ever died from a foreskin, but circumcision can be deadly. ALL surgery carries the risk of death. This was enough to convince me.
