Flour Sack Towel Users
For all the CD mama's using FST as flats, what's your opinion of them in general?
Are they pretty absorbent by itself or do you need to double up? Is it the majority of your stash or just a backup? Do you use FST because you're on a budget or because you actually like them (or both)? |

I use them without doublers but my babe is only 5 months and I don't think she's a heavy wetter. I also change her very frequently.
I use them as backup now that I have some decent prefolds. I bought them to try flats cheaply. I like them a lot, my bummis prefolds are just a lot better so they won out! Mama to a small little Bean [b. 4.2.12] |

Re: Flour Sack Towel Users
I originally got them because I was on a tight budget, but I love them! I do have to use a doubler with my 21 month old unless I'm going to change very frequently.
During the day I use, almost exclusively, flour sack towels with a bamboo doubler in the front folded in an origami fold under covers, and this holds for 2-3 hours no problem. The only time I ever have an issue is his first diaper of the day. He wakes up and immediately wants to sippy cup of milk so after drinking that, his first wet diaper is REALLY wet and being 21 months old, he really floods it. So sometimes that diaper leaks, because the bamboo can't absorb fast enough. But it works great for the rest of the day. I usually use fitteds under wool at night, but have on several occasion used a flour sack towel with 2 bamboo doublers and it's held fine ![]() Hope that helps!

Re: Flour Sack Towel Users
^ very helpful, thank you!
I'm not super concerned with the newborn stage, but I like hearing about when they're older. I do plan on getting doublers and some night time fitteds eventually. |

Re: Flour Sack Towel Users
My 2 yr old is an avg wetter and I use these exclusively in our 4.0s. I don't think they'd be as absorbant used as a traditional pf unless doubled, but folded, they work well for us. I add a doubler at night and that's it.

I love them as stuffing for pockets & laid in covers. If I had discovered them before i bought all my prefolds, i would use them exclusively.
