PNP and snaps...help!

i bought quite a few primnproper snappless fitteds...i have a few pins...that i believe came from cotton babies. anyhoo its almost impossible to get the darn pins thro. i have to push super hard and im so afraid im going to poke me or baby. i have also bent a few pins trying to get them thro..boingos and snappis will ruin the fabric..any recs on really durable pins? really sharp pins?

There are tricks that maybe some of the pinning mamas can share like keeping your pins in a bar of soap.
