Finally got a homemade detergent that works

Woohoo...3 years of trying and I found one they works!!!!

Equal parts (1cup) of washing soda, borax, sun cleaner (would leave out if I did not have crazy messy kids), and powder calgon
1 grated bar of dr. Bronners

I have tried every liquid and powder recipe...I think the calgon was the key with my hard water!!!!! No fading and gets stuff clean!

This sounds like a great "recipe"! Thanks for posting, I have really hard water too and was wondering how these homemade ones would work for us.

We have hard well water and HAVE to add the eater softener to our homemade stuff!

i think i'd like to try the Bronner's next time i make it. i've been using fels naptha, and it seems larger than Bronner's. thoughts?

curious about the calgon? I make a similar laundry soap always using dr. Bronners but haven't heard of calgon. I sometime add a 1/2 cup of baking soda also

What does the baking soda do for the laundry?

I read this as "deodorant" and was like what the heck is she putting borax on her skin for. Haha

Where do you get the colgan powder? We have hard water and the homemade detergents do not work.
