My dd has a large dark birthmark on her ankle...I'm worried that's going to bother her when she's older

Re: Boys and hair length, what do you do?

I like long hair on guys as long as it is neat and well kept, but I do like short hair on guys agian as long as it is neat and well kept. My DS is 16 months old and never had a single lock of his hair cut. I also have no intention of cutting his hair. I am going for the JTT hair cut from Home Improvement. I have a DD who is 3 and never had a hair cut either. I feel it is their hair they can do what they want with it when they get older no matter how much it bothers me. I was never alloweed to dye my hair and still to this day when I cut it off or dye it I get all kinds of crap just like I was still living at home.

I hated not being able to do what I wanted with my hair, and I never want to do that to my children.

My DS Bailey (4) keeps his hair cut in a high and tight all year round. Just like his Daddy. Dalton will do the same. Pretty much about to the skin on the sides and then about 1/4 an inch long on top blended in. When they are teenagers that will be different but until then they will wear it my way.

Re: Boys and hair length, what do you do?

We let our kids pick their hair styles. At age three, KJ decided he wanted a mohawk. We did it. Then he said he wanted it a different color - we dyed it for him. It was really cute! Every comment we got was about how cute he was, accept from my parents. Anyway, Aidan likes his long.. but we talked him into cutting it for summer. I don't mind him having long hair, but it gets so hot here in the summer and he's prone to sebacious(sp?) dermatitis (cradle cap) so his head gets pretty itchy. Plus, he hates letting me wash it. Torrin decided he wanted a mohawk like KJs last time.. Now they both want them off. Pretty soon we'll have three baldies!

Megan, they are cuties. I love the mohawks. I feel the same way. They can do what they want, after all its their hair.

Re: Boys and hair length, what do you do?

"Wow, did you dye his hair??"
No, it's naturally red!
"Oh, how CUTE!"
"Wow, did you cut his hair that way?"
No, we just woke up one morning to a kid with a red mohawk!
"How did you get him to sit still for that?"
We tied him down.. J/k, he wanted it done.
"Hey, cool hair!"

We've heard them all.

ETA: At one point he had one side of his mohawk dyed red and the other side blue.

Re: Boys and hair length, what do you do?

My DS gets a butch regularly. He has what I call "mushroom head". The longer his hair grows, the more it sticks out. It will NOT lay flat, it just stick straight up! He's been getting a butch since he was 4 months old.

Also, he has thick thick hair and having it long is just too too hot when we play outside.

ETA - when DS is older and can take care of his own hair he can do whatever he wants with it. Also, if my DD wants a butch when she's 16, more power to her. It's her head, so I don't care!
