readily available elderberry syrup for colds?
Been reading great things about elderberry syrup for fighting viruses. My 2 year old daughter gets tons of colds...in fact she is in the midst of one right now. I want to go out tonight and get some of this to see if it can reduce the severity of her cold. Any recommendations for a readily available (meaning not ordering online) brand of this and where to buy?

You may want to try things to boost her immune system so she doesn't get so many colds. Probiotics are great, cutting out sugar and grains help a lot too.

I've heard there are elderberry chews as well. My daughter's preschool teacher is an herbalist, and recommends echinachea, probiotics, and vit c.

Re: readily available elderberry syrup for colds?
You can buy Sambucol brand with is Elderberry with an herb mix at pretty much any drug store. I think it has added sugar or something like that, though. We love elderberry!

Re: readily available elderberry syrup for colds?
I love elderberry. I find it works and tastes yummy. I like the Honey Gardens apitherapy brand. http://www.honeygardens.com/apithera...yrup-8-oz.html
I also like it in tincture form- various brands. Last year we scored some raw elderberries at our local farmer's market and made our own elderberry honey and elderberry tincture. You can also do either of these with dried berries: http://smallfarm.about.com/od/diy/tp...ry-Recipes.htm |

we used sambucol in a pinch...it does have some added stuff that makes it pretty gross. I got a natural one online that was wonderful though. what did you end up with? did it help?

If you can find a good recipe you can make it. My mother makes it, always makes me feel better & tastes good.

Re: readily available elderberry syrup for colds?
I couldn't find anything locally except elderberry lozenges so I figured I'd just wait out the cold. And I did and she is fine. Wondering if I should order some to have on hand...
