Re: 5 weeks overdue and still not in labor?
i totally believe it. 40 weeks is an estimate, and i don't think there's any way of knowing if this woman was off on her dating. being off on your due date is not the same as actually being pregnant for 45 weeks. it just means due dates aren't an exact science which i think most of us should know.

Re: 5 weeks overdue and still not in labor?
my husband was 4 full weeks overdue...he was very large, and had ALL of the symptoms of being post-term. He was a forceps delivery, gave his poor mama a 4 degree tear, and had his feet starting to turn inward from being so cramped in the womb for so long.
If it hadn't been 30+ years ago, he would have been a c-section for sure...his mom was induced several times and it didn't work. Believe it or not, but it happens.

Re: 5 weeks overdue and still not in labor?
the story is that they tried to induce my mom twice too and i just wouldn't come and i was born about a month overdue. who knows what really happened. pregnancy and birth were so much different and i don't know about any of you but when my mom tells the story it comes out like a fish tale where the fish gets bigger and bigger each time the fisherman tells it only her pregnancy and labor keeps getting longer and longer.

Re: 5 weeks overdue and still not in labor?
DH was 3 weeks late. He was due 1st week of October and showed up 10/27. His mom was pregnant at her 6 week check-up. DH's sister was born Nov 23 and we think DH's mom got pg a month later around x-mas.

Re: 5 weeks overdue and still not in labor?
My sister had an early sonogram at 8 wks to confirm dates. She went 4 weeks over before giving in to an induction. She could have easily gone 5 weeks. I had a early sonogram at 8 wks and went 3 weeks over before getting an induction. It happens! I had a perfect placenta, perfect NST's and baby didn't look overdue at all at 8 lbs. If you are in good health with a good, clean diet, your placenta should be in good condition as well. My mom went a month over with me and 3 weeks over with my sister.

I think anything is possible. But If I went even two weeks over I'd probably have a mental break with reality.

The woman who runs birth without fear went to 44 weeks. She went into labor on her own and had a healthy baby.
23 years ago my mom went overdue with me. She said her original due date was in the end of June. I was born July 20.
