Re: 5 weeks overdue and still not in labor?

I was 3-4wks over due. I'm pretty sure the doc just didn't really know what was up. He kept changing my mom's due date until I came out in late June!

Could be that she ovulated late in the cycle. Due dates are only estimates. Different women gestate different babies longer or shorter than others. I tend to gestate longer than the average forty/ forty-one weeks. My second born was forty-three weeks plus three days when he was born. I see no reason to be skeptical of the woman's claim that she was five weeks past "due date". Usually, doctors intervene when it gets to the forty-second week and almost all will get very antsy once you hit the forty-third.
