Gift ideas for 1yo

Help! I am going to a b-day party this weekend for a 1yo girl. No idea what to give for a present!
Within the past few months her mom has switched her to cloth diapers. I just thought of giving her a cloth diaper, but wouldn't have time to order now! Should have thought of that earlier.
Last weekend I went to a bday party for a 2yo. I gave her dyed pasta in a container to sort. Her mom loved that idea! I know I can't do dyed pasta for the 1yo, but are there simple gift ideas better than just a toy bought from Target??

Hmmm, not sure. I will think on this today. I made my 1 yo a Waldorf doll. Maybe you could make her a rag doll type dolly or something?

If you have some free time, you could make some of these:

Are you anywhere near a zoo/aquarium/etc? We have done "family pack" of tickets - one for everyone who needs one - with a small stuffed animal or something that's related. Less plastic cluttery stuff, and a nice experience for the whole family.
Under-2's are frequently FREE so you might just be buying big sis and parents' tickets.

I just emailed a woman in a neighboring town who sells things online, but does have some diapers at her home. Unfortunately, I found that the brands she carries aren't ones that my friend uses. But, I will check if she might carry any accessories!

I love books, too
Is it too tacky to give used books as a birthday gift?? I am working at my local library's used book sale this weekend, and would be able to scope some out

Re: Gift ideas for 1yo

I've started regifting things from the around the house. For example for my neice's 1st bday this month we washed up our tupperware noah's ark bathtub set and gave it to her.

I think as long as what you are giving is in good quality and you'd buy it for yourself in that quality then go ahead!!!

Re: Gift ideas for 1yo

Some parents appreciate gifts that the kid can grow into over the next year, so maybe play food. My daughter was less than 18 months when we started our play kitchen. A few pots and a couple of food items were really cool to her. Also, I think simple lift the flap books are cool b/c at that age your kid will destroy the ones from the library. Lastly, wooden blocks are an awesome gifts if they don't already have some.
