Anyone's kid doing a book fair?

Is it a book fair? The thing when they send the kids home with a flier with all the books they can order. LOL Scholastic book fair i think, its been a LONG time since i did it.

My kids are way too young for me to order from them, but is it possible to make an order from someone and have it shipped to you? Or do THEY have to ship it to you?

I love the super cheap prices, so its always a GREAT time for me to add to our ever-growing library. And I'd rather help out family (if they do them) than go to B&N, LOL

I just need to figure out if I need to hit up a parent around here or not, LOL

I believe there is a school code or something that you enter and you can order online. I was going to do that last year with my son, but he ended up getting the book he wanted in the library because they had a selection available to purchase immediately. We haven't gotten the paper just yet, so I am not exactly sure how it works

Yes the school should be able to give you a code to order online. Some homeschool groups have this as well (we do this). But personally Books a Million and amazon are usually WAY cheaper or even ebay for book sets.

Re: Anyone's kid doing a book fair?

It sounds like a book order (Scholastic?). There is a different flyer each month. Actually there are a bunch of different ones each month, for different age groups, and a few specialty ones as well. You can either order online or send in the order form to school with your kid. The books get delivered to your kid's teacher after a week or two, and your kid brings them home from school.

A book fair is slightly different, where Scholastic (or whoever) brings a bunch of books to the school and the kids have a chance to walk through and buy them. IME the book fairs are open after school hours for a day or two so that parents can come by too, and they're often done in conjunction with some other event that will have parents visiting the school in the evening (eg open house, concert, children's art show, or whatnot).

Re: Anyone's kid doing a book fair?

With Scholastic you can order online and have it sent to you. We just had one or I would offer you her code but I don't think it would work for my daughter's school. If you want the school code let me know and I'll PM it to you. I had her in a preschool/mommy program last year and with all the info I got about it I learned a lot about ordering online. When you order online you usually also get prizes for the child's class. You can get online yourself and have it shipped to whoever would like the book (each individual address would have to be a new order) because they encouraged family members that didn't live close to order from us online. You have to pay for shipping this way but it comes to your door. I didn't do any like this because everyone who ordered was close to me but it can be done.

Re: Anyone's kid doing a book fair?

I also got a new one so it looks like my daughter's school will be doing it every month if anyone else needs somewhere to order and you can do it online as well. The due date for this one is the 18th. If anyone wants a link to the site let me know or if you want one for future use let me know and I'll send you the links for the month when I get it from school.
