New toys

I have 25+ new in box toys. They are from last Christmas that my kids never used. Tried selling for cheap on cl and Facebook and no bites...try returning to Walmart? I just don't know what to do with them!

Re: New toys

Did you list them here or on ebay? Those two are better than FB or CL. Otherwise donate or regift? Do you kids remember they got them last year? If not you could regift it to them lol

They have no clue...which is why I am getting rid of them. Did not do eBay...but I did think of that, just not sure they would be worth it. Some are pretty big...like the chuck the talking truck toys. Not sure if someone would pay $10-$15 shipping.

Could you wait until a large consignment sale? Or possibly organize an after Christmas toy swap with friends who have kids?

Re: New toys

I'd be all for returning them to a store...or trying too anyway. Target, walmart, ect....they will give you store credit for whatever they ring up for. Just watch out.....sometimes something that is worth more will ring up as barely anything if the store has clearanced it out.

Because its been almost a year many stores will not take them. However right now there are tons of organizations collecting toy donations. I would gift them to that and take the tax write off

That sounds like the best idea! Unless you really need the money, I think donating would be a great plan. Esp at this time of year. Maybe there is a local shelter or church that is still taking donations for Christmas?

I think the only problem with that is the fact that I bet we hit are max write off for the year b/c of the 2012 in 2012

Re: New toys

I think I'd do one last CL try since it is so close to Xmas, and be open to trades for stuff you can use or GCs, since these are large items. Then if that doesn't pan out, I'd donate to a toy drive even if my tax writeoffs are maxed out. It's just not worth it (to me, anyway) to have that many things unused taking up space, and since they are not smaller toys you can't regift them as birthday presents for the kids' friends.
