Another Lip Tie Question

Once diagnosed, what do they do? Cut it? If so how, under anastesia, pain management? Anyone had it done? We go to the pedi next Wed for diagnosis.

Finnlee had his lasered and then I just had to keep it from reattaching for a week.

I left DS1's alone. He has a long upper lip, and even though it's stage V, it hasn't affected his speech. It's also thinning out and I expect him to break it before it's an issue.

It's actually very rare to only have a lip tie. LO most likely has a ptt as well.

Do they put them under or give pain meds for this? I do not want him awake and in pain for something that will hurt him.

Is PPT a partial tongue tie? I cannot tell if he has that. I will have to look and ask the pedi to look on Wed.

Ptt is posterior tongue tie

I will have to look that up. I know he can stick his tongue out. My friend's son had a tongue tie and could not and it effected his speech.

I would check out the fb group tongue tie babies support group. Ptt are hard to diagnose, especially by a ped that doesn't specialize in it. It's less about how far the tongue comes out but more about how far can LO lift it? Leaving a tt unclipped can affect much more than speech.

I am not sure he can lift it much. So I can see what you are saying. I have a pedi appointment Wed to diagnose and will talk to them about it. He has such a weak latch that I wonder. I will mention this to her and see what she says. I will also make sure to tell her to recommend me out if she is unsure or not experienced. We have a dentist, so we can go there too.

Oh, does anyone who how the procedure goes? How does it work and can baby nurse right after confortably?
