If you have an extremely heavy flow, I would look for a full coverage pad advertised as postpartum or overnight, and then I would also make sure it has some sort of PUL layer in it. Most women do not need PUL, but some women do.

I agree with the PP, you do need something overnight/postpartum but maybe with use your flow will lessen. Is there a medical condition for your heavy flow?

Re: Mama cloth.....

You could use an adult cloth diaper...that would be great for night time.

Re: Mama cloth.....

Definitely choose something with wings and PUL. Some even have pockets so you can adjust absorbancy for overnight or extra heavy days.

Yes, and I love my Talulah Bean Baby Moon pads! They are not PUL-backed but are fleece-backed, which I much prefer (I have some other mc that is PUL).

I think either Mother Moon Pads or Honestead Emporium would work grear for night time. Homestead is a little thinner but plenty absorbent. The Ultimini or Ultimax would he great. If you go with Mother Moon, she has an ultimate pad that is awesome.

My flow seems to be a lot less with mama cloth. I'm not sure why, but it has totally changed.

Re: Mama cloth.....

if you are interested, you might also benefit from a cup. i use a diva cup, and cloth pads on my light days. you might have to dump more often than the recommended 12 hours, but you might not. they sometimes tend to lighten your flow because there are less chemicals involved (i also noticed less cramping, and my cramps before were crippling).

Re: Mama cloth.....

Hillbilly mama,

I have some pads currently for sale in FSOT that might be wonderful for you!! There are three 13" with PUL (two of which were lightly used during one period), two brand new 13" Go with the Flow (bamboo velour with cotton and hemp and fleece backs), and one washed but new ULTRA XXL style from New Moon Pads (flannel top, fleece back, very thirsty middle). I adore the New Moon Ultra styling, but their XL is already more absorbency than I need and just as big as I need (I did buy a second last week just b/c I love it so much, even if it overdoes it on my absorbency needs). The Ultra styling is perfect if you tend to leak from the sides b/c it has fleece rolled edges to prevent side leaking. I've seen reviews from a number of women that say it is the first pad they've had (natural or non) that does not leak. But the flannel wicks so quickly in my experience that my flow hasn't even approached the sides (on my XL). I used to have lots of issues with side leakage as well as a heavier period before I switched to cloth a couple of months ago. The 13" go with the flo are for sale b/c I realized that a different size was more ideal for me. If you see different pads in different lots that you want to try, we can work on making a lot just for you.

Just a thought,
Deb

You could also make your own. I made some long Pul liners and mini "prefolds". At night I just double up the prefolds and stick them in the liner.
