Re: The 25lb Challenge October thread

My boy will starve himself. He just does not know better. He did not eat solid food until he was over 2 years old. It is a sensory thing and part of his PDD NOS. He drank breastmilk and then pediasure. He was so bad that he drank all night as a little guy, did not sleep, and his teeth rotted out in front. It was awful. Finally he began to sleep some, as he is on prescription meds, eat a bit, and now drinks Powerade zero with no sugar in it. He still would rather drink all night and day than eat, so I have to give him food or he will forget how to eat again.

I'm beginning to think she might have an oral sensory. She is wry particular and from what I read she meets most all the requirements. Now it's convincing her DR that its not just a toddler being a toddler. She also hates the water drops on her head and will say ouch when rain hits her head. She also will not let us wash her hair and says it hurts when we put water over it. It has been a struggle but we wash her hair now when she will rinse on we own unless we're in the middle of it and she changed her mind ad now the water hurts (that has happened on occasion)

Sorry to ramble. Not everyone agrees with me or sees it so I am alone in my thinking right now. DH is slowly coming around.

Thanks for the support mamas. Those feeding issues would be tough, luckily my kids can be a bit picky sometimes, but nothing like that. I can generally just make one meal and they can either eat or not, but if they don't they don't get any snacks. It generally works for me, but like I said we don't have any specific issues to work around or anything. That would definitely make packing lunches difficult!

Yeah Kenzie will not snack and still not eat dinner if she didn't want to. She would rather drink her cals.

My son hates water. They are working on this at school. It took me 3 years to get him in a bath tub without him crying and freaking out. He hates having his hair washed.

Maybe that's part of the problem

Re: The 25lb Challenge October thread

DD is like your LOs, but not as extreme. I have read Raising Your Spirited Child and it was like OMG! that's Shayden! It helped me understand, but doesn't tell you what to do LOL.
She said she'd try strawberries today. I bought some sour cream and I have brown sugar so hoping the sugar thing will get her to eat it. Any new fruits is great. even if it's loaded with sugar on top
