Why am I scared of gerber?

And would anyone like some FFS baby food? I think it's stage 1, mainly fruits and veg. I don't know if it's even worth it to ship babyfoot since it's jars and so heavy, I'm probably going to try to donate it to a food pantry or something.

My friend just gave me a bag full of gerber baby food, and I don't know why but I can't bring myself to use it! I make all my son's food except for infant oatmeal (I've tried pureeing regular oatmeal and it still is too chunky and slow to cook), and something about those jars with the gerber baby staring back at me just makes me very uncomfortable. The oatmeal I use is Earth's Best brand, and even with that brand I've stood in the baby food aisle holding jars of food and thinking "just buy them, who cares?" And I don't! Our nanny thinks I'm insane.

Store bought baby food is so lacking in nutrition. I was feeding my daughter gerber. She tested low on iron. I switched her table food. Her iron levels went back up to normal.

Oh my gosh thank you. Lol. I feel bad taking the food from my friend, her kids are too old for it now but I know she had other friends who would use it. But I was too embarrassed to turn it down and try to explain why... especially since after she gave it to me hubby and I went to sushi with our baby! (He didn't eat anything raw.) She already thinks I'm weird, and turning down Gerber to then feed my baby sushi would just look totally nuts to her.

Gerber is known to "hide" ingredients. We don't ear pork, and after reading the label they use gelatin in the oatmeal. After some research, it's pork based :-(
Why they need gelatin in the oatmeal when earths best and beech nut dont, I have no clue, but that was the end of my relationship with gerber!

Gerber is awful. Really, all jarred baby food, but especially non organic. It has hidden ingredients and they use the reject vegetables that are going bad. Once they're processed into baby food, they actually have little to no nutritional value at all.

I'm the same way! SO bought DS some peach puree once and i fed him some but threw most of it out. He's much rather I just give him a slice of peach anyways.

I boycott Nestle and have done so for over 10 years, and Gerber is owned by Nestle so I don't buy ANYTHING by Gerber.

The reason I decided not to use them was that I had a jar of either peas or green beans... and I pureed some real peas or green beans - and the ones in the jar seriously looked brown compared to the fresh cooked/pureed stuff... right then I decided I wouldn't use any jarred food. Neither kiddo had anything out of a jar. I figured if it looked that blah, what was lacking... which nutrients/vitamins had been zapped?
