ITA. I did this with asparagus (I think) and despite buying organic... It just looked and smelled yucky compared to the fresh stuff! No wonder DS hated jarred baby food :P

Yep, same here. Even my husband knows not to buy Nestle products ever, or I will take them back and explain to the store exactly why I don't want them. I've told the local whole foods at least 3 times why I will not buy haagen-daas even if it's on sale.

To everything above: exactly! it takes no time to just smoosh up a peach or bean in your fingers or with a fork, so why not do that? You know exactly what's in it, and you want the kid to eat good adult food eventually, so why shape their palettes for bland, nutritionless gunk?

Yep. When I was feeding homemade pureed peas to DD, my Dad insisted I must have added food colouring to make it such a vibrant green.

That being said, when I ran out of homemade food and didn't have any appropriate table food, I did use some jars. That was until DH started accidentally buying the fruit desserts that were loaded with sugar.

Re: Why am I scared of gerber?

I won't use the Gerber jar/pouches. I made all of his veggie purees and bought Happy Baby meat purees (making it grossed me out).
We do buy the Gerber yogurt melts though. While not the healthiest thing, they are easy for him to eat and I usually steal some too since they taste yummy

Re: Why am I scared of gerber?

I used gerber pretty much only for prunes. I like earth's best, if I need to use jarred baby food, it tastes good. I tasted all of DD's baby food (what I made and what I bought) before deciding whether or not she was going to get it.

Re: Why am I scared of gerber?

I stopped Jarred food when my first was about 1 year old and there was a news thing about finding glass in gerber bananas. After that I just fed her table food. Now all my kids just eat table food.

I'd donate the food to a shelter or something.

Re: Why am I scared of gerber?

I have been finding that when I need baby food for on the go, or for places like a plane where I am not going to be smooshing up peaches, I really like the Sprout Organic pouches. They taste like real food - Curried lentils and all. I also like the Plum Organics pouches with the screw on spoons for being out and about.

We were gifted a bunch of gerber pureed carrots, peas, etc. One of my dogs ate them when he had a nasty bug. He loved them
