Ok so awhile back I asked about weight loss and hypothyroidism. Today I need more help. It seems after some serious cleaning up of my diet. I am having trouble with wheat this is sad because I live wheat.

I need help with breads. I like to make my own bread, but is that easier. And what flours are best? Total gluten free newb here help.

Our family has been gluten free for 10 years and still don't have luck with making gf bread. We really like Udis brand products. Pamela brand has a great all purpose/pancake mix.

Around the holidays we order from Mariposa bakery out of San Francisco.

Check out the bread recipe on Gluten Free Goddess. I love her baked goods.

Re: Gluten free help

My two favorite blogs are Life Tastes Good Again and Gluten Free on a shoestring. Both have great recipes. I agree that Udi's is great, but very expensive and making our own has been much cheaper for us when we can buy our flour in bulk. Just answered your PM and then remembered that I forgot to tell you the other blog. Sorry I'm fragmented today.

Lol it's ok I was looking at gluten free on a shoestring last night. I think I'm going to go back there and look around some more.

Re: Gluten free help

Slightly OT but if hypothyroidism is an issue, I recommend reading this http://stopthethyroidmadness.com/ and the associated Facebook page. I've learned so much about my disease that I never knew in the 15 years since being diagnosed.

We are gluten free due to food allergies. My favorite cook book is cooking for Isaiah. She has a recipe for flour mix at the beginning that you use in her recipes. Everything has turned out really good so far.

Re: Gluten free help

We are gluten free due to allergies here. I use mostly buckwheat & almond as my flour replacers here. I make loaves of bread, but one of the easiest things to do is make pancakes to use as bread - it's fast, works well for sammies/lunches & you can do it with about any flavor/kind of bread. Here's a recipe for buckwheat pancake bread if you're wanting to try. I buy my buckwheat in bulk on amazon in 25 lb + increments (stone ground, organic buckwheat for $1.20/lb including shipping costs).
