I'm sorry someone was killed and so many were injured. I imagine this will drive the price of sposies up.

I wonder if the companies will just take the hit or pass the cost onto consumers.

I'm so glad that none of the diapers I choose to put near my baby's most sensitive parts depend on a CHEMICAL PLANT for manufacturing. This reminded me of that! I'll be interested to see how this effects the prices, which is sad for people who struggle and depend on them.

It was actually this point that made me read the article in the first place. The headline made it seem like a Kimberly Clarke plant went up but when I saw it was a chemical plant I was like and I CD!

You don't think that chemical plants are involved in making fabric, PUL, elastic, snaps, aplix, snappis, fleece, boingos, etc?

Agreed.

I'm guessing it won't affect much re:sposies at the end of the day as it is only one factory. I'm so sad for the families who lost their loved one and had injured loved ones.

Re: Fire may cripple global sposie industry?

im sure there are shiploads of sposies made that will last until they get production up to normal, but the article said it is responsible for about 10% of the worlds SAP in sposies, which is kind of a big number when you think about it. and it is really sad that that happened, i really feel bad about the low income families who use sposies and dont know about cloth, we were in that boat, just because i cloth diaper now doesnt mean i did before. anyway, im sure sposie prices will go up a good 10% because of this(to make up for the 10% less product they have)
