I know my body is gearing up for O day, which, if normal for me, should happen in about 2 days... this is my first month charting... this morning I had a noticeable shift to a lower temperature. Is there a such thing as a "pre-ovulatory dip" where the body temp will go really low a day or two before you ovulate???

Yes this can happen due to a significant rise in estrogen, which cools the body. Estrogen peaks prior to ovulation to trigger LH to mature and release the egg.

My dip is always my O day.

Interesting! ... my OPK is still showing negative as of 11:30 this morning now... so I'll probably retest with another OPK later in the afternoon/early evening.

That's crazy! But I still have never had a positive OPK yet! But my charts show a clear O. For a while I tested twice a day, got a near positive and got pg that cycle. Last week I had a near positive and then Oed the next day. So I think I'm done with the OPK's. they don't seem to help me enough to justify buying then. Seems my cervix position and cm are better indicators for me. And cheaper lol.

I definitely agree that just by temping and checking your cervix you get a much clearer idea of ovulation time. The OPKs don't seem as good as a tool to me... I think I have missed my surge before, too, like last month, just by relying on OPKs alone. That's why I decided to start charting.
