Best place to buy inexpensive, colorful yarn? Spam welcome!

I'm still learning to knit, so I'm looking for some inexpensive but fun-colored yarns to practice with... but decent enough to use the finished product since it takes me forever to actually complete something!

Can anyone recommend brands/places to buy? Or feel free to spam me - I like to shop!

Unless our next u/s reveals some hidden boy parts, I'm looking for girly or g/n yarns

Knitpicks. Com

Online only but great quality for the money. All natural (or at least not crap acrylic like at Joanns).

Patons (avail at Joanns and micheals) is okay but for the same money you can order from knit picks and gets some nice stuff.

My friend just showed me a site called Craftsy. It changes often from what I have seen but they have sales.

Are you looking for wool? I've always been happy with Cascade 220 or if you are looking for something hand dyed you can find some hand dyed skeins in the $10 range on Etsy. 100Purewool is also a decent yarn for the price. KnitPicks was also a good suggestion.

Glad to have these resources! Craftsy is good price-wise if you're going to buy enough to get free shipping. I for one, don't buy that much at once, so with shipping, it is usually not that great of a deal.

If you are looking for brick and mortar stores, JoAnn and Michael's have a good selection. Also sometimes thrift stores have bags of yarn. Great if you just want to practice.

ETA: Also Hobby Lobby

if you're looking for wool, Full o Sheep is available at joanne's or hobby lobby. I can't remember how much I paid but I think it was affordable plus those stores always have coupons. I made a pair of soakers a few weeks ago and they work great.
