Wouldnt worry about that either mama. Walking range is 8-17mos. Both of my girls didnt even attempt to walk until 18 and 18.5mos. Dd1 just wasnt interest and dd2 was afraid(she crawled on just her knees for about 6mos before deciding to stand lol).

Re: 8.5 mo old- no signs of crawling

My DD #4 would sit and smile - she didn't crawl FOREVER - definitely over 9 months. She didn't even attempt it. She didn't walk until 16 months. To be honest, I was so happy, it made life easier. Once they stat crawling and walking that's it - no more sitting still.

The physical therapist that taked to my BFing group said the average age for crawling is 8-11 months and walking is 12-15 months. All kids are different. My stinker DD1 crawled at 8 months and didnt wall til nearly 15 months....it seemed like she would never walk! I really detest the eat-every-nasty-thing-on-the-floor crawling phase and I do hope DD2s isnt 6 months long!

It's so funny because I am a speech therapist and i reassure parents about their child's development all the time. It's so hard to be rational when its your own!
Thanks for the input. I appreciate the help.

I agree - nothing to worry about. LO didn't crawl til 10 months. He's just started walking more than crawling and he's 14 months.

my 2yo crawled at 11mo and was walking on his own at 15mo. Before that he rolled everywhere he wanted to go.

I however, never crawled, I scooted on my butt. I think i started walking a little after a year.

Do not worry! I son didn't crawl until 10.5 months, walked at 13.5 months and now he's 18 months and thinks he's a 2 year old (climbing and running all over).

Re: 8.5 mo old- no signs of crawling

I think what's more important isn't that they are crawling/walking, but rather making the steps toward those things and appear interested in trying to move around and check things out.

My son didn't crawl until 2 weeks before his first birthday, and didn't walk until 15 months. People nagged us about it (which made DH freaked out that something was wrong with him) but I just knew he was fine and on his own schedule. He would roll and drag himself around, and make attempts to crawl, but it took awhile to really get it. Before he walked, he'd pull himself up and walk along furniture, and think about taking steps but would chicken out. It was cute.

DS is now a very active 2 year old who climbs around like a monkey. It just took him longer to get the physical stuff down, but he tended to be ahead with things like his verbal skills.

If your gut says something is wrong, get her checked. But if it's just because you think she should be crawling at this point or other people make it seem like she should be, then do your best to relax and enjoy it while you can. Sometimes I miss those less mobile days! haha... plus it's so cute watching them try.

2,014 items in 2014?

Re: 8.5 mo old- no signs of crawling

my child started crawling after 9 months and walking unassisted at 11months. It means nothing

my DD didn't even roll over until after 6months for one way and 6.5 months for the other way.

ETA: my daughter NEVER cruised. So, using furniture to walk isn't important either. She insisted on walking with our fingers (luckily she's tall and I'm short, but DH had a rougher time with it).

My DS1 crawled at 11mo, and DS2 at closer to 12mo. They are both totally normal.
