wrong price on price tag

How do you think retailers should handle situations like this?

I know locally the price marked is the price they have to give. This doesn't always happen as people change tags. But I'm pretty certain if you fight it enough you'll get it.

Where I work we always give the price that was listed. Even if it means we lose 25+ dollars on buy one get one free vitamins that someone missed pulling the tag down on. We do have the ad sale dates on the tag but in my opinion it's our fault and we should honor whatever's listed.

Re: wrong price on price tag

Reason I ask is my husband and I went to a local jewelry store to look. I was intending on buying. I found a few rings I liked but chose one based on the price since I just got a new wedding set and didn't want to spend a ton. I also picked out a bracelet. When the guy was ringing everything up the ring wouldn't come up in the system so he asked the owner. The owner said the ring was mislabeled in price which is why it would not come up. She said she was sorry but left it at that. I went ahead and bought the bracelet anyway because I liked it.

They should honor the price tag.

A store in my town, if the price on the shelf does not match the price in the computer (in their favor) you get the item for free.

In my experience if the tag is lower then what it should be, they lower the price to reflect what the tag says. Also if the big tag on the shelf(not the individual item) is lower then what it rings up as-and I catch it lol-then someone will go check the shelf to verify. If the tag was left over from a passed sale or a stocker labeled the wrong thing they always sell it to me for the price thats on the shelf tag.

Check your state laws. There are laws pertaining to this. I bought something on clearance at Target a couple weeks ago and it was priced wrong and they gave it to me at the marked price.

Re: wrong price on price tag

Sell it at the price listed.

OT but the post made me think of this:

I once worked at JCP and one time a lady came up and threw some pants down, she was mad because she couldn't check out the pants in the mens department because, as she claimed they were on the clearance rack and they should be 50% off. I informed her, I'm sorry someone must have put them on the rack by error, and she said I don't care you have to honor that. I also told her the sign says clearance 50% off RED LINED merchandise only. There wasn't a red line. She got out her red pen out of her purse, marked it on the tag and said "THERE, now give it to me you little minimum wage worker".

I will probably never forget that experience. I called the manager and the manager said "yeah we have her on video tape", go ahead and give it to her, besides those pants are actually going on sale next week for 60% off. If the lady was nice, she said I'd let you do it for 60 now but make her waste her time if she wants to come back next week to have a price adjustment.

Re: wrong price on price tag

i bought most of ds winter clothes at a walmart that they had placed $1 sale signs on the wrong racks. They had to give me the shopping cart full at the advertised price. I got 3 piece shirt, jacket, pants for a $1. I got over $35 worth of clothing with a majority being 2 pc and 3 pc outfits. When I went back the a couple of days later they where all priced up to $7 an outfit.
