pocket with wool cover for overnight?

does anyone use this combo for overnight?

we've been using disposables forever now because i got sick of the leaks overnight. the sposies leak sometimes too, but not as bad.

i have pockets, prefolds and could knit up some wool covers. i don't like the idea of a prefold against their skin all night, so i was thinking maybe i could do a pocket with hemp insert with wool cover...

anyone doing this? or some other stay dry type with wool? does it work well?

i don't want to spend the time knitting if it won't work well...

thanks!!

sometime I use 2-3 alva bamboo insert in a flip cover with a pair of longies and it works great. I also like this combo because it is not bulky at all and if you want the stay dry feeling you can add a fleece liner.

I have in the past - I think it works.

LOL - my LO right now is having issues with having no stay dry overnight and rashes.

So in the last week I've been doing:

Sposie + Fitted + Wool Cover.

I hate the smell of the sposie in the morning, but she has had no leaks and her bottom looks way better.

Pockets (if it is PUL, not fitteds) are not breathable. At least not breathable enough to keep little bum in it for 10-12 hours.

You can use a stay dry liner (microfleece or athletic wicking fabric) with your prefolds laid in the wool wrap. Or did you mean you can/ plan to knit only soakers?

Re: pocket with wool cover for overnight?

Yep, I did it! That is how I first got started making upcycled wool

My boys were all super soakers. At the time, they were 3, 2, and 3 months, and I was doing bedding laundry every morning. We didn't have a dryer, so it was REALLY hard! I was about to throw in the towel on CDing, but the mamas here on DS convinced me to give wool a try. It was BULLET PROOF! I still use wool over my prefolds/PUL covers on DS3. Lemme tell ya, its bullet proof!

The PP is correct, its not breathable, due to the PUL of the pocket/cover...but to me, I'd rather have the PUL factor in there than sposie chemicals and such...AND the cost is way less

Good luck, mama!

I started using a wool cover over my pocket combo that I knew was leaking. Then I started feeling bad that I knew it was wet and leaking and not even breathable so I started looking into fitteds that had a stay dry option. There are quite a few. And like PP said, her bum looks better in the morning wearing a fitted than a pocket.

So you all think its better to have a prefold directly on their skin with a wool cover than pocket because it breathes? I'm so afraid it'll be uncomfy for 12 hours. How do u double up?

Yes. I've done it with my dd who is a super heavy wetter at night just to catch the leaks.
