Pulled muscle in ribs? Any ideas?

Last night when I got home from work, I noticed a pain in my ribs. On the right side, around to the back. It feels like a pulled muscle in that it alternates between a sore type of pain and a sharp type of pain. I'm just confused though, because I can't recall doing anything to hurt myself, and of course I got myself psyched out because Dr. Google tells me I have a blood clot in my lung, gallbladder problems and possible liver failure

Is it really easy to hurt yourself this way and not notice?

I almost broke a rib coughing. I was coughing and felt a pop. Luckily x-rays did not show a fracture, just severely strained and pulled. I was in pain for a few months. So totally possible.

Hoping that you just strained something and it is not a pull. I will tell you if it is a pull that chiropractor care can help.

I have the same pain going on, too...but I know mine was from working out. Sorry I'm not much help.

Does it hurt to breathe?

Have you had your vit. D levels checked? It is very possible for your ribs to bend if your level is low. It is VERY painful.

Might be pluerisy...Its not so fun.

I get it twice a year.

Yeah, it's sore all the time with some sharp pains if I breathe too deeply or move certain ways.

For treatment, is ibuprofen and heat okay? Or should I ice it?

I had nasty bronchitis in late August/early September, could this be related somehow?

I know you guys aren't doctors or anything, but tomorrow night is the earliest I can possible get seen so I'm just trying to figure this out.

Oh, and I can't imagine it's a vitamin D deficiency, I take a multi-vitamin as well as a D supplement every day. I have wondered though if it's some sort of rib bruise.

Id say its respiratory related. I'm pregnant, so have zero ability to think or recall, but I had something once and it started out the same way. Wasn't bronchitis or pneumonia. Ugh, anyway, get seen and take it easy.

Aha! This is what I was thinking of! Seriously not fun. Took me a full month to recover from. The pain was awful! It came on after I had bronchitis the month before. However, I have craptastic lungs.

I actually get crossed ribs, which causes this type of shooting pain. I have to stretch in a certain way to uncross them and it's excruciating, but the relief is instantaneous once they uncross.
