How do you cook cube steak?
I bought some cube steak and was wondering how all of you cook it. There are so many recipes online that I'm not quite sure where to begin. So, I thought I would ask you ladies!
*I am not a good cook, so I'm looking for an easy recipe that is basically idiot-proof! Thanks!

Re: How do you cook cube steak?
Swiss steak or country fried steak are about the only ways I make. Country fried might be a little hard since you have to make gravy. Lots of people have problems with gravy. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/easy-an...k-swiss-steak/ I don't put peppers in mine because no one really likes them.
http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2...n-fried-steak/ You don't need a ton of oil just a couple of tbsp should be fine as long as you still have a about a tbsp of oil left for the gravy. And you can make regular mashed potatoes, you don't need all the extra stuff in them if your covering them with gravy. Here are some more ideas http://tipnut.com/recipes-cube-steak/

Re: How do you cook cube steak?
My mom's recipe is to simmer slowly in beef broth with peppers & onions. I add in mushrooms.

Crock pot! Layer onions, then carrots, then potatoes (or any other raw veggies you like), meat on the very top, and pour in beef broth until it covers about 1/2 to 3/4 of the vegetables. Add seasonings to taste. Serve over noodles or just in a bowl with the broth by itself.
if you have a big enough roasting pan, you can do the same thing in the oven. So yummy. That's like our super easy go-to fall/winter recipe around here.

Quick & easy-
sear on both sides (in a little butter or oil) then dump a big can of diced or crushed tomatoes with italian seasoning in it on top- let simmer for 10-15 minutes while the sauce reduces some. I serve with cooked noodles, or just a salad and bread!
