How do you eat an elephant?

Ps if my week turns out like its starting out, then I will be back for advice on where to apply that income.
Can you send me a link to your page? Starting to browse for our little guy due in March.

AFM, I've been MIA for a few months, and we have not been sticking to budget. My baby sis moved in, we are expecting again, and we put our house on the market...excuses, excuses, lol. We dipped into FFEF for some unexpected improvements needed before listing the house. We still need to replace one month of expenses, then a little extra since we are expecting a larger mortgage when we move. Then we can FINALLY get back to our BS4-6 plans.

Wish us luck for a quick sale. We really want to be settled into a new (to us) home by the holidays, so we can get everything ready for our Spring baby. Had several couples look this week. Fingers crossed...

My youngest son has also been having some speech issues. Now our doctor feels he needs an MRI and to see a neurologist. Which I'm stressing over. Luckily, it's not a money issues that have me stressed. We have enough set aside for medical this year in our HSA.

So I'm trying to commit to: "use it up, wear it out, make do, or do without."
I am so sorry for your loss

We listed my car for sale in hopes of getting more than we could trading. If it doesn't sell in a couple of weeks, we will just trade in for a lower loan amount and lower payment.

We have now made arrangements with all siblings that we would not be buying for neices and nephews this year. We will each all buy for our own (growing!) familes and let the time spent together be the extended family gifts. that makes me feel better already about the holiday budget, and we are determined to scale WAY back with our own kids as well.

The end of the month will not see much headway on debt as we are taking DD2 to Diney World for a very early birthday present (I am delivering #5 2 days after her b-day in Feb & I don't think I can walk around Disney later than the 2nd trimester). Fortunately, we will also not incur debt from our trip either, because we set aside money for it as it has been in the works sine Feb this year (pre-DR).

New week... Hope I can do better. After finding out about moving, I got swipe-happy. Never pulled out cash for most of the envelopes, but then I went and debited most of it... And not for the right things I was deal seeking, nearly everything was 75% off or more. But still. Since we're moving in a couple months, I want to get rid of all of our old stuff and replace it with new... I'm just having a hard time not replacing it all right now lol.

I'm still here. DH gets paid this week, I'm hoping it will be enough... I need to figure out how to get back into doing envelopes, I loved when we were doing that! We were a whole month ahead with everything! DH just isn't making enough to be able to cover everything. And it doesn't help that I'm hugely tempted by the yarn co-ops right now! I have a bunch of my yarn that I'm not in love with listed and NOTHING is selling. I've had a couple offers for trades that I've had to turn down. I'm trying so hard to focus on appreciating what I have. It's so hard sometimes!!!

ETA: 2 skeins of yarn just sold!

Its a new week! Hubs is getting a $900 check for his side job at the police department that he does in the evenings. That is all going on credit card. That will put the card down to $4,000. I thought about putting it all on my SUV payment but its only got $3,000 left on it and the interest is only 6%. The credit card has 20%! He also has to take off a whole day of work this week and work for the police dept because they are moving to a new station and he has to move all the computer/tech stuff for them. So thankfully he has vacation day at work (so still getting regular salary) plus $400 is from the PD. So yay!

Big hugs <3 I went through the I wants just after my grandma died and then again when we sold her house. I went through two months with almost no snowball because I was medicating my depression with shopping. I hope you have better luck keeping yourself at bay than I did.

Im struggling with not wanting to work out of the house any more. Odd starts kindy next fall and I dont think I will be able to work out of home anymore after that. Add to that, Im waiting to see if we are expecting a new bean or not. I haaaaate waiting!!!

With all that going on, I should be trying to work like crazy. However, Ive been kinda stagnating on the sb. Ive been shopping too much. I needed new nurses shoes......the soles split on mine....so I bought a gently used pair on ebay for half price....but still 65$ My back is already thanking me though.

How do YOU eat an elephant? Or how do you eat an elephant? I enjoy it With olive garden dressing and fresh parmesan, other just eat it one bite at a time. In case you (or new comers) dont really know, its just a saying to keep you focused on the small steps to get to your ultimate goal. Achieving your financial goals would be the elephant, the baby steps here would symbolize taking it one bite at a time. So when someone says "...like eating an elephant." they mean taking it one step or bite at a time and eventually you will get there. You cannot get there all at once, it takes time and effort.

Ducko sorry to hear about your father. Keep focused, as hard as it may be, tragedy can often send up into a manic phase and spending spending spending.

Re: Dave Ramsey Support Thread Oct 8 - Oct 14

Our gas has actually went down here over the past week so I am hoping that it stays that way for a bit. My husband drives 350 miles a week in a tahoe to work and back so Gas has been killing our budget lately.
This week I need to pick up a few groceries but they are budgeted for. I also need to figure out a picnic menu that is fairly cheap but will feed us and some extended people for my birthday picnic this weekend.
Bills have been paid until next check and we just received a small gift from my in laws to help with gas to my sons doctors appt. They help out my husbands sister quite a bit but we have never asked for anything so they wrote a check because they wanted to help out and left it with DH when they went home (they live in another state). My parents gifted us 100.00 after our DD was born before DS first trip. We dont rely on any of the gits but they are really appreciated it and it helps us with the budget for the end of the month when we will be traveling.
I need to find a hotel for our next trip, get the last few small items for halloween costumes, and get our oldest DD 2 pairs of jeans for fall/early winter since its gotten so cold here.
