About 2 after I got my new iPad it got cracked. I had it leaning up and DS pushed it over. I went to catch it but kind of caught it with the back of my hand and my ring chipped it. The chipped the cracked aross the screen. I was upset but lived with it.

Well this morning. I'm walking with it and it slipped out of my hands. Fell to the ground and out of the case and the first crack shattered.

So I have a warrenty that I need to check into but if the only do one repair/ replace over the life of the iPad I dont know that I want to use it for the glass....any adive would be great. I'm so irritated with myself!!

Have you searched YouTube? There are always various tutorials there. I took apart, and put back together my Wii with a bijillion pieces by following a step by step tutorial there.

I would suggest NOT to try it yourself. My husband builds computers and does all sorts of electronic repairs, but when he tried to replace our glass he broke the WIFI so we had to get that repaired as well. I have found that if you go to a repair shop or mail in place it's about $200 but you can go to APPLE and they will replace the whole iPad for $250. We got the glass and WIFI fixed at a shop but the volume button stopped working. The screen cracked again after that and we just went to APPLE. I wish we would've just gone to APPLE first.

ETA: When we went to APPLE they let us add the glass warranty onto it for a little more $. We also had the iPad in an Otterbox case when it broke both times. It is now in a Lifeproof case and it's doing great!

Apple just told me this week that they changed the AppleCare replacement policy. Mine broke this spring and I have AppleCare, it was still half the retail cost($300) to replace. Now its only $50... At lease that's what they told me when I asked why I should renew my AppleCare.

Just FYI, apple won't replace the screen. They will only give you a new iPad.

This is totally the way to go! I wouldn't risk all the other potential issues that the pp had!

My dad has done it. He also did it to a friends iPhone by watching a tut online. I'll see if he can find a link or something and pm you with it

The warranty may get voided when you change the screen yourself.

I ended up sending it in with the warranty. It wasnt a one time thing but it covers the product for 2 years no matter how many times I'm stupid with it :giggle2.

I didnt even have to pay for shipping to or from them
