Immediate redness in CD - would love suggestions!

Hi all - I posted recently about a rash my LO developed at three months (redness in front waistband/groin area that evolved into nasty rash). It has finally gone away with disposables, nystatin and cortisone. Unfortunately, as soon as we put her back in a prefold, the redness returns (even when I change her every hour). As soon as we put her in a disposable, it goes away (even after sitting in it for hours overnight).

It looks like disposables are solving the problem because they're more absorbent. This is a major bummer. Would love any suggestions before we give up on cloth! THANK YOU!!

Info: we use diaper service prefolds which are washed in ozone and cloth wipes washed with biokleen and free and clear 7th gen. We blow dry her bottom at every change, give ample diaper-free time, and have tried: CJ's butter, butt paste, vanicream, vaseline, lotrimin, earth angel, olive oil, corn starch, baking soda baths, etc...

It's possible she is sensitive to the wet and needs a stay dry fabric next to her skin. A quick and cheap way to test that out is to cut up some fleece and lay it in as a liner.
Good luck!

I concur - either try a stay-dry liner against her skin, and also either go without a cover or try a breathable, non-PUL cover (like fleece or wool). My son had a lot of problems getting a rash in the triangular area above his penis until I switched him into diapers that have stay-dry inners and breathable covers. He is sensitive to wetness and to PUL. Now that he's three, he can wear a natural fiber diaper, but if I use that kind of diaper all day he will rash up. Also he still can't wear PUL.

Could it be from the detergent he service uses? Some skin is just more sensitive than others. I would try sween cream or bag balm as well. Sween is a nice little barrier & cd safe here. Helps me & my lo when we have red/sore stuff.

Thank you! Are there superior brands/types of fleece (Bummis is the first thing that comes up on a google search), or are they all equal?

Thanks so much again - I'm hoping this will keep LO in CDs

Another thing to consider if you don't want to use the fleece liners would be to use OsoCozy stay-dry prefolds. Just thought of this.

I cut up some fleece from Joann's . I have the Bummis liners but I don't use them often. I would try something inexpensive at first just to see if it helps.

The first thing I thought of was the fact that your CDing her with a diaper service which means she is in rotation with using the same diapers that other babies use. Not trying to scare or anything but what does the company do to sanitize? Do they only wash? The same thing has happened to my baby before after purchasing used CD and only washing and not sanitizing them but the rash and pain went away once I did thoroughly clean them.

If she were having an issue with something used to CLEAN the diapers, wouldn't the rash be everywhere rather then just the front?
