If Rockin' Green works, what else will I like?

I have used Rockin' Green the entire time I have CD'd my son...nearly a full year now. It seems to work fine, and I got a great deal a few months ago on 3 bags, so I continued using it. I have noticed a slight ammonia smell in nighttime diapers lately.
Even tho Rockin' Green seems to work I am thinking of a change. Mostly the change is to see if there is something less expensive I would like, as well as something that will eliminate ammonia smell.
I do have hard, well water. I have a top loader washer (non h/e). Oh, and I don't want to use anything scented, or at least not something that leaves a scent. I probably would prefer a natural option.
Thanks!

Please don't take this wrong, but if you are noticing ANY ammonia, even faintly, then it is not working well.
I have no recommendations for a natural detergent. I use whatever mainstream detergent is on sale and smells pretty..,

Edit: I'm really no help.

I use country save! I've used it since we started clothing, and I LOVE IT!

Have you tried the rockin green funk rock? It's supposed to specifically take the ammonia out. A friend uses a little in every first wash cycle and has never had a prob. But that's not a cheaper option...

I have hard water as well and am using Ruby Moon detergent. I've only been CDing for 2.5 months now but I haven't had any kind of stink problems yet. I bought it at Kissed By The Moon and it comes in an unscented version.

Re: If Rockin' Green works, what else will I like?

I had hard well water (have a softener now) and practically destroyed a bunch of diapers using Tide F&G. It made anything stay dry repel so badly they were practically waterproof and I went through a couple weeks straight of stripping. I use Rockin Green now too and add a scoop of the Funk Rock to the pre rinse, bleach once a month or so and no ammonia. It's not cheaper, but it works.

Haha, yeah, I was starting to think that maybe it wasn't working!
Maybe I will give the Funk Rock a try.
