How to treat used diapers?

I am getting a bunch of used diapers from different people - mostly prefolds and fitteds, but also some AIOs. What do I do to make sure all the possible ammonia and bacteria etc. are gone before I put them on my baby?

And what about the covers? Do they need to be disinfected as well?

So you don't recommend stripping them first? Is rockin green okay to use with bleach or should I just wash them the first time w tide?

I would think the bleach and tide would do a good stripping itself. I just wash on hot with bleach and tide, do a bunch of rinses, and sometimes put a few drops of GSE in the last rinse cycle. (You don't really need that GSE, but it is excellent at killing yeast, so if there is yeast it's not there anymore.)

I usually line dry, but should I machine dry these after disinfecting? And what about used PUL covers? Same treatment?
