Diaper Swappers

I am due to have our first baby in November. I know I need to prep my prefolds and fitteds (hopefully getting some soon! )and it may seem silly but do covers need to be prepped in any way?

I have only used wool but understand from reading others posts you just need to wash once to remove manufacturing ickis. The same as you would do for any item of clothing for a newborn. Unlike the actual diaper where you need to remove natural oils to improve absorbtion.
