diaper pail stinkies HELP!

Here's the diaper pail I use with a planet wise wet bag. It smells so bad with the lid closed. I can't keep it anywhere near my daughter's change table. It's stinky!! I tired one of those baking soada discs taped to the lid on the inside but that didn't work. How do you suggest I prevent the stinkies from getting out?

Are you sure it's the pail itself? Does it stink after you take out the wet bag?

You might want to try cleaning/scrubbing it with some soap and water, maybe some bleach? Then let it air out. I always air out mine between washes.

I hope you figure it out!

Re: diaper pail stinkies HELP!

Can you rinse all of them before putting them in? Or wash more often?

What does it smell like? It shouldn't stink IMO honestly. The only time we have gotten the stinkies is if I had really really bad poopy diapers in there that I couldn't plop out (before we got a diaper sprayer) or if we were starting to get amonia or build up issues from our hard water. Poopy diapers if that is the problem I would put in a seperate zippered wetbag. We have one that fits 6 diapers maybe and throw it in the closet in our bathroom until wash day.

well it's mostly just the smell of pee that escapes from the pail with the lid closed. I wash ever 2 days but I rise the poopy ones so they aren't the culprit. Do your pee diapers stink?
maybe I need an extra rinse before drying?

Our pee diapers don't stink at all. Maybe that sounds weird IDK but the only time that our pee diapers stink is when we are starting to get build up issues. I would strip or throw 1/4 cup of bleach in with the diapers and see if that helps.

Plastic absorbs smell also. If it's the actual pail, I would scrub it down with soap and water and maybe some bleach/disinfectant...

Re: diaper pail stinkies HELP!

yea we keep our diapers in an open pail in the laundry room the first place pretty much anyone walks through (its right off the garrage) and it doesn't smell if it dos its almost always because the diapers need a little extra cleaning if I notice it the next wash I'll add some extra bleach.

Ok I'm convinced that I must not have clean diapers. How do I strip? I just switched to tide after many disappointing washes with RG. Also does bleach discolour the PUL or the minkys?

We don't use liner & I rinse mine. Bu there is some stink just cuz pee stinks imo.same with toilet since we don't flush after every urination. Try baking soda in the liner & between dipes.
