I'd put the guy in the hospital and take my lumps in jail. It's the bible belt they should like eye for an eye. As for the proselytizing goes, and this is only because I am more well versed in the teachings of the Bible, I would let her come over and make her cry at her lack of knowledge, then I would get a restraining order. She'd prolly lose her job if she had a court order barring her from contact with a child.

Sorry mama! My sister and I went to school down in Belize and they do corporal punishments/ lashings. My mom ended up pulling my sister out and homeschooling her because it became personal like lashings for not doing homework to being tardy ect.. and then started making an example to the class w/ her, it was crazy. I was in 8 th grad and my teacher was also the principal so she maybe once that year wacked someones knuckles w/ a ruler definatley not a daily/weekly thing.

I'm in Indiana and went to public schools (township not city) and they did NOT spank/paddle kids. And we are talking 20 years ago. They definitely don't do it now.

I am in utter shock. mama. I had no clue there was still paddling allowed anywhere in N.America.

Of course. I am still in such shock, that I cannot imagine someone checking another box.

OP, I would be homeschooling.

I am presuming your dd did not have this teacher last year. This is something you need to send in every year and let each new teacher know every year.

With the lunch lady. I'd tell her to cut it out, especially when she started coming to my house and tell her if she doesn't that you'll report it since she's violating rules.

Although it is legal to paddle in several states MOST school districts choose not to do it and that's why most people that have lived in those states aren't even aware it is legal

Re: Another wwyd about school...(kids not college)

Since you said she did well last year I would talk to the school and see if switching classrooms might help. I would also speak to the teacher and to the principal about paddling without calling you first. I would exhaust my options first then I would look for alternate schools.

Do they do magnet schools in your state? That might be a possibility although you may have to home school this year and work hard on getting her grades up if they have academic requirements. Or if you always wanted to give homeschooling a try this might be the kick in your pants to give it a try. I certainly wouldn't let the situation stretch out for too long if you haven't made progress within 2 weeks it is time to pull her.
