Maybe TMI here, but...
I'm 7 weeks postpartum today, and went for checkup. And I'm not healing. Underlying tissue didn't heal and was sticking out of the skin or something... Anyway, this is why I was still sore at this point..
So, I got coterized(sp?). Burned. O.u.c.h.
Anyone else gone thru this?
I have to go back in a week and if it hasn't healed she said she will cut stuff off and then burn..?
She said it was probably from infection.
Which, 3.5 wks ago I thought I wasn't healing right and possibly infected, so I called Dr office, but my doc was out of office and only one available to see me was a nurse practioner who said I looked fine and I was healing nicely.
Oh, AND, I'm one of those lucky ladies who gets their period back early. REALLY? I wanna be one of those who doesn't get it at all while Breastfeeding. I got it back 7 weeks after my first pregnancy too. Sweet.
Anyway, anyone else have to get "burned" in your lady bits?

Re: 7 weeks postpartum and...

I had one spot that didn't heal well after my first son that was cauterized with silver nitrate, it hurt! But, within a few days I was finally healed up and it no longer hurt to pee! Hang in there, you should feel better soon.

P.S. Sorry about AF returning so early.

Re: 7 weeks postpartum and...

I had to have that done after DD1. A few days after it was cauterized, it was much better!

Oh man -- much sympathy! I didn't have it done but I do have to say, for me healing took a WHILE. I'm 7 months PP and sex only started to feel okay around 5 months.

So went last Friday to follow up appt and, TMI warning...
Had to get 3 more "growths" cut off and cauterized. These were in my vagina(not on outside like last week), and all were on my tear line. Apparently I don't heal well. Anyway doc swabbed to check for infection, to test diff antibiotics on it, since apparently what I was on last week didn't help. And also what she cut off(which biggest was nickel sized around) was sent to pathology lab. Even tho doc said she doesn't think its serious when I asked, hearing that they're checking to make sure they're benign is creepy. I know its just "procedure", but creepy to hear.
So today or tomorrow I should hear from doc with antibiotic script, and I go back Friday for another follow up.
Why don't I heal? I had appendix out this past spring when 17 wks pregnant, and one of the incision spots did not heal, got infected and took 2 diff antibiotics to kill that. And while 37 wks preggo I dropped a table on my shin and ended up with a beautiful Hematoma hard lump that the specialist my ob referred me to said it will fade, but I'll probably have some degree of lump there the rest of my life.
Hmm. I just can't help but wonder if something is wrong with me that I don't heal well.
Anyway, just hoping for no more cutting and cauterizing in the vag area. Cause holy cow that hurts.

Re: 7 weeks postpartum and...

I'm sorry. I've so far never had to get cauterized, but I also wasn't fully healed by my 6 week check up with my last. My body likes to take 7-8 weeks to heal.

Re: 7 weeks postpartum and...

Ugh, so sorry that happened. I'm super paranoid about it because when my MW was stitching me up she kept talking about what a weird shaped tear I had and how she was having to use her good sewing skills to get everything "back in the right place" even though it was only a 1st degree tear. Then she wanted me to come in for a 3wk checkup instead of just the 6wk to make sure it was healing right, so of course I'm worried that I'll go in and have the same thing as you! Although I am feeling pretty good, so hoping it means that things are healing as they should...Hope you are feeling better soon!
