Question DIY sewing dipe questions?

I'm still pretty new here, so I'm still learning my way around, & I hope I posted this in the right place.
Anyways, I love fluff but my pockets aren't deep ($$$kwim? ) so I'm trying to make my own fitted & pockets. I don't know much about pul & I'm in the south, so wool might be too hot for summer. When you sew your own & want them not to leak through (I guess aio?) what other fabrics can you use? I read on another post (but can't find it now) that you shouldn't use oilcloth/vinal because it can't breathe. But then the covers & little pants are made of vinal, soi don't get it. I found some very thin (not much thicker than cardstock) clear vinal. Said could be used for raincoats/diaper bag liners/etc. I am getting some because I thoght it'd make a great liner for a wet bag. Do you think it'd be okay to use some as an inner layer next to cover fabric? Any help would be great!

you should have this moved to craft chat.
you need to use PUL to sew covers, AIOs and Pockets.
vinyl would be terribly hot and I would think give a bad rash.

If you want to use something other than PUL, you can also use fleece. Maiden Mills fleece is what's usually recommended, but you could also just do two layers of a non-pill fleece from like JoAnn's Fabrics. JoAnn's Alpine Fleece is their non-pill. I have several covers made out of this with two layers and it works great. I know you can make a pocket or AIO out of fleece as well.
