any other homebirthin' mamas?

I have my 1st MW appointment tomorrow (I'll be 12wks 5days). Anyone else planning a homebirth? I had an awesome experience w/ DS. I'm going to be using the same midwives.

I haven't decided yet. I had one last time, but I'd have to drive about another 45 minutes to have a "home birth" at a birth center (really just a house that the midwives use for women that don't live in the area). Adding 45 minutes to a 3.25 hour drive makes a big difference, especially when my last labor was 4 hours from the first contraction.

My then 2.5 year old DD was at my home birth. It wasn't a problem at all, and we didn't have anyone there to watch her (it was just my midwife, another MW, and DH).

Not for me. I'm a VBAC mama, so am not comfortable. Also been through a situation where immediate medical intervention saved my newborns life, so the whole idea makes me nervous, though I understand intellectually it's perfectly reasonable and safe for many.

DD was 2.5 when DS was born. We had a good friend on call (she's also a trained birth doula) to be DD'd doula worked great. she actually got here before the midwives. I loved that DD got to meet DS withing seconds of his birth.

Hope your appt is great!

I have had all my babies in hospital, different circumstances and birth experiences with each one. This Babe will be born in hospital as well.
I do hope for another VBAC, although I will be fine with whatever birth/delivery is necessary to get Babe here safe and sound in our arms.

We are going with a midwife, but at a freestanding birth center 5 minutes away. Our last child was born there and it was great! We've had hospital births prior to that, but they made me so nervous. I was so glad when the birth center opened. My husband is very antii-homebirth

We are planning on it, but haven't chosen a MW yet (dh is looking for work out of state, and we hate to "hire" a MW, then move). I am seeing an OB for now, just so I get all that prenatal care, and if we haven't moved soon, we are going to start looking for a MW. This will be my 3rd homebirth.
