We did this. Basically, we steamed and pureed any fruits and veggies that we got from our CSA each week, and froze it. We have trays of carrots, apples, peas etc... You can also just mix these to make combos.

We did this as well. I made our own baby food from scratch. Invest in a good steamer. I steamed everything; fruits, veggies until DS was ready to try meat. I hardly freeze any since I wanted to prepare everything fresh unless I was traveling for work and had to be out of town. Then, I prepared enough meals to last through the duration. I also like to mix veggies and fruits with yogurt and cheese. I had a great time introducing a variety of fruits and veggies in combination.
