not sure if this is the right place to post or not, but here goes. I'm a little worried about my 11 month old daughter's lack of weight gain. She's breastfed, and been eating solids since 7 months. She LOVES to eat! I would say she gets nearly a cup of solids 3 times a day. Pees and poops plenty. Still nurses a lot, every 1.5-2 hours during the day. Usually sleeps 9:30pm-7:30am without waking. Happy between feedings. Lots of crawling and starting to take first steps. She's never been sick, not even a cold...the picture of health, but she still hasn't even doubled her birth weight! Here are her monthly weights, please let me know what you think, and note that she actually lost weight (4oz) this month.
birth- 9lbs 10oz (big!) 1 month- 10lbs 13oz 2 months- 12lbs 5oz 3 months- 4 months- 15lbs 2oz 5 months- 16lbs 1oz 6 months- 16lbs 12oz 7 months- 17lbs 1oz 8 months-17lbs 5oz 9 months- 18lbs 9oz 10 months- 19lbs 1oz 11 months- 18lbs 14oz thanks!

Subbing, because I thought it was typical for BF babies to start leveling off as early as 9 months?

Re: should I be concerned about 11 month old's lack of weight gain?
You said it, lots of crawling and starting to walk. This is when babies slow way down. If she's moving a lot and still nursing plenty and producing lots of wet and dirty diapers, she's probably fine.

Re: should I be concerned about 11 month old's lack of weight gain?
My EBF girl was
birth- 7lbs 9oz 1 month- 8lbs 10z 2 months- 9lbs 7oz 3 months- 10 lbs 12 oz 4 months- 11lbs 6oz 5 months- 12lbs 4oz 6 months- 13lbs 10oz 9 months- 15lbs 12oz 12 months - 17lbs 4oz. (I pulled out the baby book) At 2 years, she was 24 lbs. And last week she was 26 lbs (at 2 yrs 9 mos). I think you are doing a great job I think EBF babies can be tiny and it is ok!

It may be fine, it may not. Is her ped concerned? What does her solid food diet consist of?

Re: should I be concerned about 11 month old's lack of weight gain?
we havent been to the pediatrician since her 9 month checkup, so I havent addressed it with them...thought I would see what other mamas here think first. She eats 3 meals of mostly fruits and veggies, some grains (in the form of Cheerios, oatmeal, or rice pasta) and meat (chicken or turkey) at dinner. No direct dairy at all yet as she had a milk protein intolerance, but seems to have outgrown that, at least through breastmilk.

Re: should I be concerned about 11 month old's lack of weight gain?
it seems fine to me, my DD has been the same weight since about 9-10 months, and she's 13 months right now. my ped. told me that they really slow down and even stop around that time, because they get more mobile and aren't growing as rapidly. and if they can slow right down or stop, i assume losing a little is normal too. as long as she's eating, and wetting plenty of diapers, and happy, i wouldn't worry.

It's completely normal for bf babies to gain much less the second six months. My DS only gained 8ozs from 6 months-year. He was meeting milestones, happy and healthy. I wasn't concerned. What does your mama gut tell you? I would look at HER and not the scale, what does that tell you?
Fwiw, my DS was 17lbs at 1 year (9lbs at birth), about 26lbs at age 2, and 30lbs at age 3. He's just lean and doesn't put on weight fast. But he's breastfed and eats a ton, lol.

![]() my kids stopped gaining much between 5-7 months. One didn't gain at all for several months. Barring other signs of trouble this is normal.

If she is peeing/pooping, happy, and hitting developmental milestones (like the crawling/walking you mentioned), then I wouldn't worry.
