Re: are American Girl dolls worth the price?

I would deff get the one she falls in love with weather or not it looks like her as imo she will attach to her much better that way.

YES totally worth it

ETA: My YDD picked Julie as her first doll and to this day she loves julie over the rest of her dolls, theres no contest. My dd is brown skin, brown eyes, brown curls

Re: are American Girl dolls worth the price?

I'd get a knock off one personally. The real ones are $105 + shipping + whatever clothing and accessories since a doll w/o multiple outfits just isn't the same to most kids. You can even get a lot of clothes for the knock off ones. I think craft stores sell them but you could look around for a better one. American Girl dolls are well made, but I think you're mostly paying for the brand name. This post came at a good time b/c we got a catalogue in the mail just today and I ripped off the back cover so I could call and have our name removed from the mailing list. Then again, if you've got the money and it makes you both happy, there's no harm in that.

Absolutely worth it. Dd has my sisters old bitty baby and that thing is in amazing condition considering it is 15 years old. Just a few scuff marks on the face (and we can have it sent in to get a new head.) My mom is holding on to my Samantha doll to give to my daughter a few years from now. She still looks barely used (despite being used by myself and my sister) and she's about 18 years old. If we didn't have that doll waiting for dd, I'd totally spend the money on a new one!

I think the knock offs are very cheaply made.

Absolutely! Especially if you can find a used one.

Re: are American Girl dolls worth the price?

I wish my girls like dolls. They're older now, but they just never played with baby dolls as little girls. I got an AG catalog last month and I want to buy one for MYSELF one day. I never was able to get one when I was a little girl so I want to treat myself one day to one. I make doll clothes sometimes for my BFFs DD and I like to take pics of my sewing projects, so she could be my model.

Definitely!! Last year Megan asked for Bitty Baby and she LOVES her. She takes such good care of her. This year she is asking for Caroline and I am 90% we're getting her that. I would rather spend $100 on an AG doll than spend $100 on crap that will broken by New Years.

Definatly! If you have a store close the whole experience is very fun!! We have Marie grace and a bitty baby for my 5 yo and 2 yo. They are well made and my 2 yo plays with Marie grace and it holds up well to the dragging around! If she wants it she will take good care of it I'm sure!!!
