Re: Waldorf Doll Sew Along

So, I bought the supplies to make the dolls for my littles LAST Christmas. I got through *almost* sewing the head onto one of them LOL. I am shooting for Christmas this year again-- or Birthdays (both in Jan).

I have a question though. Is non-superwash BFL an okay fiber to spin for hair? Also, if you spin really bulky, do you would need more wool right? Like maybe 6 or 8oz for girl hair instead of 4oz?

Thanks!

ETA: I sewed her head the rest of the way on. In the pic she is wearing a dress I picked up for her at the thrift store for 50 cents and a sweater I knit. I have another thrift store dress, but it doesn't have any fastenings, so I can't figure out how to get it over her head. I think I might cut down the back, hem it, and add a couple velcro tabs.

Where can I buy some of these things to make just 2 dolls? I know some of it I can get right at joanns, but I don't know what doll making needles are or the fabric for the head.

I was going to try and google a tutorial or maybe buy one on ebay.

nevermind, I found this tutorial and I think I can figure this out without some of the materials I was unsure of.

Does handspun BFL work well for hair? Is 8oz overkill for a girl doll?
