There was a scorpion in my bed last night

My 4 year old was sleeping with me because dh was working overnight, and I had just put her to bed when she comes hauling out of my room in a panic telling me there was a scorpion in the bed. I learned a while ago to always believe the kids when they come up with stuff like that. they are usually right and very good at spotting critters. So I made sure she was not stung and rushed in there. As much as I can rush these days. And sure enough, there was a little sand colored 2 bar scorpion running around my down covers.

I made my oldest fetch a cup and hard cover book, and we caught it, and typical of my 4 year old, by the time I caught it she was calling it "cute" and saying it was Scrappy's mother. Scrappy is the scorpion we found on the porch a few weeks ago that is living in my oldest's room in a critter cage. I'm good with them outside, inside, not so much.

So that was a first! We found one in the bathroom right after we moved in, but since I hired a bug guy we haven't had any critters in the house. I have to admit, I had a hard time sleeping last night, and I am not squeamish!

You are kinder than me ,we squish them! I have been bitten and to me the only good scorpion is a dead scorpion inside or outside. We have them everywhere over here in the country,I am always careful to make sure we don't have bed ruffles and that no blankets touch the floor for them to climb up.

Re: There was a scorpion in my bed last night

My bug guy said they fall out of the light fixtures from the attic? I haven't seen any in the attic, though. We probably need the steel wool replaced outside the house, so I need to contact the bug guy.

I've lived in rural areas in various parts of the country, so it doesn't bother me at all. I don't like anything in my bed except or humans and the occasional dog, though. Outside they can do as they please, and it's nice that the kids spend so many hours a day running around our huge yard in our little rural subdivision catching all sorts of little bugs and animals. I think they are going to miss that when we move to San Diego in a regular subdivision with very close houses and no critters.

But yeah, they need to stay outside, or at least out of the bedrooms! And the pantry. I draw the line there.

Re: There was a scorpion in my bed last night

lol reminds me of when I was 18 on the road with my ex who had a traveling business and we stayed in a cute little guest house in bastrop texas. My bf's family came to visit us and his little 4 year old nephew was sitting in the living room and told my bf "uncle patrick, you have a bug on your shoulder!" Ill never forget how fast he jumped and quickly swatted away THE SCORPION that was sitting on his shoulder!!! ekk!!!!!
