2 under 2?
My YDS is just about 15 months. He will be about 22-23 months when I give birth. My ODS is 13, so I am terrified of this age gap. Moms who have experience in having 2 close together, what am I in for? Right now, it is even more overwhelming just because I am dealing with first trimester exhaustion and running after a baby. Sigh. I am just looking for any tips or encouragement on handling 2 babies from moms who know how. Thanks!

Dd was 23 months when ds was born. It really hasn't been bad. She is not very jealous at all and they love each other so much! I think with dd being so young she doesn't remember life without her brother. We worked on making dd more independent and that helped a lot. You will do great!

Re: 2 under 2?
DS1 and DS2 are 19 months apart, and #3 will be 19 months younger than DS2. I loved the age gap! There were never any jealousy issues and in a way it was easier having 2 "babies" at the same time. Now than DS2 is almost a year they are starting to play really well together and its awesome. The hard parts are, basically you have 2 babies. Its hard because all of a sudden the older one seems like a huge toddler, but really they are a baby and can't be trusted to not poke/prod/abuse the little one, and they aren't old enough to have the patience and understanding that they have to wait sometimes for the baby to eat/sleep/whatever
It was helpful for us to set up a playpen that we could put the baby in (to keep him safe if I needed to go to the bathroom or something), or corral the toddler in if needed. When you're going places buckle the toddler in the car first, and take them out last and try to park as close to the cart returns as possible. You'll be fine!

Re: 2 under 2?
I agree with the others. DD1 & DD2 18 months apart. I have loved it. Loved it so much wanted this baby to be stair stepped right there with them. We weren't successful first time around miscarried in June but this age gap will 27 months.
Excited to be joining this group! |
